About BenefitWise

BenefitWise is an independent, advertising-supported website. We publish independent calculators and explanations that make Social Security arithmetic easier to inspect. The site is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Social Security Administration (SSA), and agency names identify public sources only.

What we publish

BenefitWise offers five browser-based retirement calculators and guides about benefit estimates, claiming-age adjustments, federal benefit taxation, work limits, and the annual cost-of-living adjustment.

How we research

We use SSA and IRS publications for program rules and cite the official page alongside the relevant explanation. We use only verified figures identified in the source material available on the review date, and label user-selected scenarios as assumptions. Every figure that comes from a third party is linked at the bottom of the page where it is used, and every page shows when it was last reviewed. If a carrier, retailer or organisation changes its published information, the official source wins over anything on this site.

How the tools work

Calculations run in your browser. Inputs are not sent to BenefitWise or stored by the site. Your official benefit estimate is on your my Social Security statement.

How we make money

BenefitWise shows advertising (Google AdSense) and does not accept payment from insurers, brokers, banks or any company in exchange for coverage in our guides. We do not sell leads, and we do not sell or recommend any specific insurance policy or financial product.

Corrections

If you spot an error, tell us through the contact page. We correct factual mistakes quickly and update the “last updated” date when we do.
